Facebook says it has removed a series of images depicting cats posing in provocative poses, including one featuring the cat’s ears hanging down and the caption “I am going to give him a real haircut” and “I’m going to do it right here and now.”
The Facebook account, which had previously featured pictures of kittens, was temporarily suspended on Friday.
In a post on the company’s Help Center, a tool designed to assist users with reporting issues, the company says it is “actively working to get these images removed.”
Facebook said the images “are a distraction” and that it is investigating whether to take action against the user.
“We are taking this matter very seriously,” Facebook said.
“We are working to remove these posts as quickly as possible.
As soon as we have more information we will share it.”
Facebook’s Help Centre was created in October 2015 to assist the company in addressing problems in its News Feed and News Feed Marketplace, as well as to assist advertisers with managing their social media presence.
